Artie’s new outdoor furniture line for this spring season, the Reyne collection, showcases a modern business style that reflects our connection with nature and offers a unique application of the business aesthetic. Mavis Zhan, the Chief Product Designer at Artie Garden, sees this as a natural progression for the brand. “Nature is an integral part of our lives,” she says. “The topic of how to blend the atmosphere of modern business with nature to create a new synergy has been discussed within the outdoor furniture industry for some time. It aims to rediscover nature, the business environment, and the pleasure of the outdoors.”

The Reyne series includes a 2-seater sofa, 3-seater sofa, lounge chair, left-armrest sofa, right-armrest sofa, corner sofa, dining chair, lounge, and coffee table. Mavis Zhan drew inspiration from the textures, shapes, and colors found in nature, as well as her passion for environmentally-friendly materials. “I’ve always wanted to combine design with nature and strive to find a balance between business and natural styles, which not only caters to the needs of commercial settings but also emphasizes the connection between our products and the natural world,” she explains.
Mavis incorporated many hard lines into this collection, but she softened these elements through a series of woven textures and muted colors and curves. For instance, the main frame is made of powder-coated aluminum tubing with a runway-like design, while the curved teak armrests add a flexible element to the overall sturdy shape. This fusion of modern commerce and natural softness avoids the feeling of being too rigid and single.

The TIC-tac-toe woven on the backrest is handcrafted, producing a luxurious, comfortable feel that still maintains a connection with nature. The cushions are made of completely waterproof materials, which can withstand changing weather conditions. Additionally, the detachable backrest design also adds more possibilities to this series. Mavis added, “The detachable backrest will be a surprising plot point. In the future, different versions of Reyne will use different materials or colors to showcase various styles.”

At the 51st China International Furniture Fair (Guangzhou) in March of this year, the Reyne collection made its debut and was met with great admiration and approval from the visitors. The collection’s design is characterized by its simplicity, elegance, and attention to detail, and is able to provide both comfort and pleasure while being perfectly in line with modern business aesthetics. The natural feel is further enhanced by its use of woven textures and color combinations, which create a sense of warmth and intimacy for users.

“The outdoors has become incredibly important,” says Mavis Zhan, whose vision for Artie encompasses every area of living. “To create this collection, I conducted exploration and research to seek inspiration and philosophy in design. Through the lenses of natural aesthetics and ecological thinking, I better understood the essence of natural beauty, such as texture, proportion, symmetry, and other elements. I consistently emphasize the integrity and systemic nature of ecology, attempting to organically integrate different elements and parts to create a complete system.”
